As I was putting John Henry to bed, I asked him what he was most excited about for vacation at the beach.
“I’m just gonna lay on my towel, practice my reading, and reeee-lax,” he said.
I’ll be sure he gets a good foot rub, too. You know, it’s hard out there for a Kindergartener.
I’ll be taking a bloggy break for the rest of the week as we head south for some much needed relaxation. A big shout out to Papa Joe and Linda (Mimi to my children) for the family invite.
I’ll be back next Monday.
With stories. I’m sure of it.
I’m taking “The Shack” and “In the Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day” with me.
What are you reading? Any book recommendations?
Love ya. Mean it.
Yes , I am reading , jobs available in monster.com, employ fla. market place, graigslist, and the local classified….not recommended for pleasue but a must read in the Oliver home right now! see ya when you get here!
I’m into Double Cross by James Patterson. Looovvve his books! Have a great vaca! Bring back some sunshine!!! Love ya! Sure will miss your blog!
I’m reading Traveling Light by Max Lucado. Since you’re traveling, and probably not light since you’re a girl of my heart (lover of shoes & coordinating handbags), might I suggest this one. It focuses on the burdens we too often carry with us through life…envy, discontentment, fear, etc. Max compares these burdens to luggage and how they can weigh us down without us even realizing it…and then he reminds us, in a gentle way of course, what God says about carrying those burdens. A must read for all, regardless of where you stand on your journey called life. 🙂
Enjoy your “time off” and spend some quality time with your beautiful family! You (& your blog) are loved by many… & will be missed!
I left several books in vacationland with Mom (aka Linda)…Dusty…I read four books while I was there….it was fabulous…ya’ll have a great time…I wish that I was still there….

I read “The Shack” several months ago, and gave it to Joshua for his birthday last weekend. I have heard some comments about it having New Age elements in it, but I didn’t see them (granted, I’m not exactly up to snuff on New Age stuff).
I loved the openness of the book, as well as the nonstereotypical elements of portraying the Trinity. I found it very believable, probably thanks to your Dad, who taught me that anything and everything is possible w/ God, and that we can’t even begin to imagine what grandeur and ideas He has. The book inspired me, and I am praying that it will open Joshua up to see past the failures of Christians and into the love and grace of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Let me know what you think! And enjoy the sand, sea, and shrimp!
