He can’t fit inside my box.

I’ve been listening to some Ayiesha Woods lately.  Her song “Big Enough” is one of my favorites.  The song says,

And I don’t wanna box you in
You’ve been doing big things since the world began
Sometimes I just don’t wanna believe
That you’re big enough – but you’re big enough.

I think I like this song, because I relate to it well.  I have those days where I believe that He is able to do anything.  But, to be honest, I don’t function in that daily.  I tend to try to fit Him into my little box.  How quickly I forget the big things He’s already done.  And, there I go doubting that He will do big things again.

Then, He does.

Again.

And, again.

Because, He’s big enough.

Do you ever try to put God in a box?

  1. I did. And then He told me to throw my box away.

But sometimes I still try to jump into the dumpster to see if I can find it again.

I don’t put God in a box, in fact I tell Him all the time He Can Do Anything!!!!!! and thennnn, I ask WHY He doesn’t lol….really that gets to me…. BUT, I am GREAT at offering suggestions as to how He could handle situations and problems when I pray…Thank God He is Big Enough….Thank God He takes care of things His way not mine….and it does help to remember just how BIG He worked in my life in the past…

  3. Is THAT what I keep hearing? That muffled voice screaming, “hey, let me out of here!” 🙂

  4. God is definitely greater than any box can hold. However, we do try to put him in a box. Your box can be a humdrum, cardboard box or possibly a beautiful jewel box covered with the most precious of jewels and with wonderful possibilities inside. Phil. 4:19 tells me that He will supply all of our needs from His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. When you receive a gift, which box do you get more excited about. When I have a need, I want to open the possibilities box. How about you?

Oh yeah….but I’m learning He doesn’t fit…and doesn’t fit my agenda. I know I’ve tried to put people into that box too….personal EXPECTATIONS…ugh!

  6. I believe that anything He has promised in His word is His agenda. That is why when we pray in accordance with His word and will we can expect the best answer for us and others. You are right that we should not have our own selfish agenda. But, I do believe in expectation in regard that He answers prayer.
