I had intended on writing this post last night, but I sat up and listened to some insightful, and sometimes funny, exchanges between my dad and his pastor friend of more than thirty years, Ron Gray. And, then a little prego sickness postponed my morning writing. Thankyousokindly, Caffeine-Free Coke. I could not survive without your faithfulness.
I usually read at night before I close my eyes. Obviously, before I close my eyes. I have a few books awaiting my attention. Bill Hybel’s Axiom is one of them. But, I’m most excited about today’s delivery of The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence. Yes, Brother Lawrence. It was originally published in 1982, so if you’ve been in the Church for a while, you’ve probably heard of it or even read it yourself.
I enjoy books on leadership and the occasional novel. However, right now, I feel compelled to read material that simply draws me closer to my Creator.
What are you reading right now?
What is a book you’ve recently read that you highly recommend, fiction or non?
I am reading “how to follow Jesus without embarrisning God”, by Tony Campollo. Good read if you need balance between grace and law. I regret you will not be my way, love you Dusty!
I’m reading a book by E. W. Kenyon entitled Jesus the Healer. It is only 86 pages long, but very powerful!!!
Honestly..I haven’t read in a few months, but I found this book at my friend Sabrina’s house the other night called Hello Vodka, it’s me Chelsea..I have never read a book like that before. I mean, a comedy book, it was just what I needed I read it in a day and laughed out loud for at least 1/2 the book. BUT, I do need some new books, I hope we have some good suggestions on here, b/c ‘m dying to read something else! Guess I could go through Mom’s library today
Still reading crazy love. Francis chan. Alomost done.then moving to the small study.
Well I haven’t read it yet, but The Shack is on my nightstand waiting for me to read it…just gotta pick it up and get started.
I just finished the Twilight series. Was so good and addictive. Couldnt get enough of the vampire saga. I definitely need something uplifting at this point. Or maybe an easy read. Suggestions would be great.
My favorite author is Stuart Woods. I’m waiting on his next book. I just finished three James Patterson books (not the Alex Cross books). I like an easy read that you can’t wait to get back to.
The last 2 books I’ve read are “IT” by Craig Groeschel, are very good book, do you have “IT”?
The other was “Strong Father, Strong Daughter” by Meg Meeker M.D. Great book for dad’s with daughters, I’m a good dad but this book helped me fine tune my parenting with great lasting results. Just picked up a new book yesterday “Do Hard Things, A teenage rebellion against low expectations.” I’ll let you know how it is.
The Shack and The Penny are both great books.
I’m with Jason, I already read “Crazy Love” still holding on to it. I need to read it EVERY DAY for awhile. Excellent. I want to read Shack too, Dan has that, said he cried a lot.
