This guy was on my flight back from Atlanta last week. We have met once before, but not since I entered the blogging world. You know it’s bad when you introduce yourself and almost say “dot com” after your name – because, that’s how some people identify you. Anyhoo. He was accompanied by his beautiful wife and “totally cool” boys, to quote my son. What made his boys totally cool? Three things: 1) Nintendo DS, 2) Gameboy Advance, and 3) the fact that they shared these hot gadgets.
Since John Henry’s exposure to a world beyond the handheld Leapster, he has been appealing for the Nintendo DS. I’m not going to lie to you. I would get more use out of this one since it would allow me to play round after round of Tetris. But, it’s not as though I need another distraction. The world wide web is enough. Amen?
His birthday is two months away, and I considered letting him put it on his b-day list which is growing by the minute. I decided, instead, to let him enjoy his Leapster one more year and pick out a new game for the family Wii.
Why are we so insatiable when it comes to the latest and greatest ______________ (you fill in the blank)? Gotta have that wall-mounted plasma, the iphone 3G (I resisted), Blu-ray what?
It’s not a wonder why more and more Americans are getting themselves into some serious debt. While we pay our credit cards off each month, I still can fall prey to the marketing geniuses of the world. Steve Jobs ain’t no dummy.
So, what to do?
Realize that you have everything you need. You really do. And, when the timing is right, the money is saved, and priorities are met, enjoy life’s latest luxuries.
As for me, I’m trying to decide whether to get my own Nintendo DS and conceal it or just wait right along with my boy. ‘Cause if Carrie Underwood has one, it must be fantastic.

Since God instilled a baking gene in my make-up, & not a technology gene, my phone isn’t even a camera, & it will go to the internet, but I found that out via a friend’s description.
I want a big oven. I bake for a Sunday School class every week, & could certainly use it. BUT, to do so, I would have to remodel the kitchen & my husband has said no. He’s a cretin.

Big ole’ fat tires for my Yukon XL. Why can I not be a “cool” soccer mom?? Still have an H1 in my sites but then reality sets in… baby steps to cooldom.
Stay away from the psp then…I want the iphone.
Well, that blog was realistic, it is soo true, so many new gadgets, but I have learned, if you wait…..(there is that word again….lol) the newness is not sooo inticing, and it becomes an older gadget, or is on sale?

That was the argument to get rid of the electric stove/oven/microwave to get the gas stove. The electric wouldn’t even work correctly long enough to roast a chicken, & destroyed any form of bread I tried to do.
Besides, that lousy man knows how to overcome any resistance I may offer. He figured that out quickly. Self-preservation helped him.

It was great to hang with you as we waited for our luggage! BTW- John Henry and my little homegirl Anna are some cool kids also.
DS is the way to go; however just like you said they always want more; my son wants a PSP.
My 13 and 7 year old aren’t the “wanters” in my life. Larry had a longer birthday list than -the other two ever have! HE is the one with the psp. I want a new bathroom. (with a steam shower) – it is more than a ds too.
My son and I both have PSPs; mine to watch movies and he likes to hack his. Daughter wants a DS but she’ll have to buy it herself. Funny thing though is that we’re a family of 7 with one cell phone. I didn’t like paying the huge bill those things can run up and I didn’t want my kids sitting there texting all day long.
