Favorites Party – Week Two

It’s FAVORITES time again.  What a way to get in the holiday spirit.  Since I’m not decorating my house due to impending holiday travel, I’ll ‘tis the season right here in bloggy world.

Today’s FAVORITE topic is FAVORITE gift.  A favorite gift you’ve given or received.

Now, don’t get me wrong.  I love to give.  But, I sure do get silly excited when I’m the recipient of presents.  Except for that puffy Christmas vest one of my students gave me years ago.

My favorite gift.  I had a hard time narrowing it down between Dolly Pops, Brooke Shields  Barbie Doll, Snoopy Snow Cone Machine {carpal tunnel hell}, and the Barbie Townhouse.  But in the end, the Barbie Townhouse beat all.

Do you know how awesome that yellow elevator was?  You pulled a string to raise it up and down.  It was seven year old HEAVEN for this little girl.  I loved it.  Thank you mom and dad for making my Christmases so grand.  They were perfect.  Even without the beloved Cabbage Patch Doll J

I’ve actually looked at buying one of these vintage Barbie items on eBay for Anna.  I did manage to acquire a Brooke Shields Barbie Doll for her still in the box on eBay for 99 cents.  I really didn’t get the reaction from Anna that I was looking for on that one.  Can’t imagine why.  Brooke is way cooler than Hannah Montana.

What is a favorite gift you have given or received?

  1. Cute blog Dusty! My coolest gift as a child was given by my parents, I was like 12 yrs old, and it was one of those things that I wanted clothes, but he wanted to give me something else besides clothing..lol, it was a “thing in the box” it was from the adams family, this hand comes up, gets your coin, puts it in bank. ha! Funny thinking back. But my Jaime got one of those snow cone machines, I drove MILES in the snow, to TOYSRS (sp) with a Christmas bonus to get that for her! But it was worth it to see her smiling face. (my smile is bgi)

My favorite was a record player…I would sing with those records (maybe someone will know what a record is ) and go into music wonderland becoming all the current female country vocalists..but I will never forget my Dad’s face when he got me to open the door one Christmas Eve to find a horse, Pepper, waiting outside….I still don’t know how he pulled that off..I am sure he had help…Well what many of you don’t know is that I went on to become a Horse Show Champion of Barrel Racing and Stake Racing….Had the throphies too…I should of been a Cowgirl lalala

Dusty, I had that very same Doll House-it provided hours of fun and entertainment. That very same year, I also received Donnie and Marie dolls. What great memories.

  4. I had Barbie’s Motorhome. She was a cool traveling chick. I am thinking alot about that elevator…That is fly!!!

Brooke is way better than Hannah Montana!! My daughter got a brunette barbie friend named Theresa and she loves her because that is my name. My waist has never been that small but one can dream. LOL

Did Skipper ever grow up?? LOL

  5. Judy

Big girl favorite…..the PedEgg lol that D gave me last year…I use that thing all the time, really…..

  6. Sharon

I got the Charlie’s Angels Townhouse one year and all the angels to go with it! I could not have asked for anything more!

  7. I never had many Barbies, but I loved me some Cabbage Patch Kids. Now that takes me back…

  8. I really wanted an Easy Bake Oven when I was a little girl and never got one. My daughters gave me one about two years ago. I’m 47! Every now and then I like to pull it out and bake me one of those cute little cakes.

JUDY I DIDN’T KNOW YOU USE TO RIDE HORSES. YOU GO COWGIRL!!! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE PICTURES. AND YES I DO KNOW WHAT RECORDS ARE.LOL I STILL HAVE SOME OF THOSE.

MY FAVORITE GIFT WAS A KITCHEN SET. THE LITTLE DISHWASHER SPUN AROUND WHEN YOU CLOSED THE DOOR. IT WAS THE CUTEST THING. I THOUGHT I WAS THE STUFF WITH THAT.LOL I ALWAYS WANTED THE BARBIE DREAMHOUSE BUT I NEVER GOT ONE OF THOSE.

JUDY I ALSO HEARD YOU SAY HOW YOU LOVED THE PEDEGG. EVERY TIME I SEE ONE I THINK OF YOU.LOL I’M GOING TO PUT THAT ON MY SANTA LIST FOR THIS YEAR.

DUSTY I LOVE YOUR BLOGS!!! I LOOK FORWARD TO READING THEM EVERYDAY.

  10. I have that PedEgg. I really don’t see the magic in it! Now, as for record players. I still remember Bonnie’s Donne and Marie record player. It was completely awesome!

  11. Gayla

One of my favorite Christmas gifts was a very large ( or maybe he just seemed big) stuffed dog named Henry. Dusty, you may have seen the home movies of me dancing, dancing, dancing with Henry. I wonder what happened to him?

  12. Judy

I loved me some Barbie too……I remember the Donnie and Marie lol

  13. Oh how I loved the Barbie Townhouse. And Ken… he was the Foxy Mr when I was 8. Sport ‘n Shave Ken. De-lish. I wish Barbie had treated him better, that tramp.

  14. So, there’s a funny story behind that barbie doll 3-story penthouse. I had one of those and when my Mom decided I was done playing with it (for whatever reason), she put it on the side of the road as “trash” – can you believe that? – on Dauset Dr. Well, not long after, yard-sale bargain queen Kitty Grubbs picks up that beautiful barbie house and brought it home, where I later discovered that my barbie’s had been evicted and Kristen’s had moved in. Funny stuff… and good times…
