Where Is the Light?

I’ll be short.  I am thankful.  I am thankful that I get to be a wife to Kris.  I am thankful that I get to be a mom to John Henry and Anna.  I am thankful.
I am thankful that I get to sleep in with my children.
I am thankful that I if I ever need [...]

Worship.

Last night at Eagles Way Church, the youth joined the regular Wednesday service for a time of worship.  I have engaged in worship services for as long as I can remember.  As a matter of fact, my mom still has a cassette tape of me singing worship songs at only four years of age.  I [...]

The Slacker.

It’s no secret that I was rather slack yesterday – oh, and the day before – with my blog posting.  I could say that I’ve been busy traveling with my children.  Or, preoccupied convincing Anna that her hot pink socks really do not flatter her awesome silver tennis shoes.  Or, making sure John Henry has [...]

He Said, She Said (Part Two)

I asked Kris if he would like to contribute any material to today’s post, and he informed me that one a week was his limit.  A man’s gotta have his limits.
We’re talkin’ about what makes marriage a little sweeter – more like what makes it work.  Well.  Here are some things that I do (or [...]

He Said, She Said (Part One)

I’m no expert on marriage.  I mean.  You know what they say, “You only get married twice.”  Tee-hee.  No tee-hee?  None.The.Less.   Kris and I have found a few things that make our marriage pur-tee nice.  I asked Kris to help me out with this post.  So, below are his little nuggets of wisdom.
Ladies and Gentlemen, [...]

I Bet Kris Allen Likes Cupcakes.

I can hardly write anything coherent tonight.  It’s tonight.  But, it’s today for you.  You know.  I’m writing this tonight.  But you are reading this tomorrow.
See what I mean when I can say I can’t write anything coherent tonight?
I just finished baking two dozen cupcakes for Anna’s class.  It’s my turn to bring snack tomorrow [...]

Where The Streets Have A Name.

When I spoke at Eagles Way Church on Mother’s Day, I boasted explained how Anna doesn’t put her fingers in her ears when we pray for her any more.  You see, I recognized this as a huge step forward in her walk with Christ.
Well, she fell off the prayer wagon the other night when she [...]

Legacy.

Well, Bigmama’s 90th birthday did not go unnoticed.  I was sad to miss all the hoopla, although I did talk to Aunt Kate, Bigmama’s 94 year old sister, on the phone for the better part of my Friday evening.
She enjoys talking on the phone.
Aunt Kate, who spent Friday evening at my parents’ house celebrating Bigmama [...]

90 Never Looked So Good.

Sure, the Treaty of Versailles was a big deal, but this was bigger.
90 years ago tomorrow, Bigmama was born.

I’m glad she was.  And, I’m also glad for her salmon patties, biscuits and pecan-less pecan pies.  Oh, and for always pouring half of a can of evaporated milk into my coffee.
She has a faith like no [...]

What Do You Do With Your Loss?

First of all, I can hardly believe Danny Gokey is no longer a contender to be the next American Idol.  How-EVAH, it is certain that he will find success.  And, I guarantee that he will bring glory to God.  How do I know this?
Because, he has already endured a much greater loss – losing his [...]
